The stork’s been busy!

I had the delight of meeting a beautiful five-day old baby girl at the weekend, congratulations to proud parents Ellie & Tom Round! And of course our congratulations extend to all new parents – you must all be full of pride. Quite coincidently, the day after I met baby Round, our Cornish friends at Frugi sent a marketing email to my inbox announcing, “There are a lot of new babies arriving at the moment… must be something to do with the cold January”. What perfect timing Frugi! And come to think about it, I have met a number of heavily pregnant women this past month – and that must be why!

All of us at Celtic Sheepskin remember only too well how cold January was – our customers couldn’t buy sheepskin mittens fast enough! Not that I want to consider my friends at that particular time in their life though, in fact I’d rather block that picture out if you don’t mind, but it makes me think about all those newborns, and the winter they now face. I wonder if we’ll get snow? Ooo, how exciting!

Now our winter baby collection at Celtic Sheepskin may not overflow with new items, but what we do have is very much tried, tested - and loved. Take for example the baby Puddies and Bootees set; there are very few Cornish Babies who haven’t been given these as a gift, and the trend is now going global! I mean, who could resist the pretty pink sheepskin, or baby blue suede? Simply adorable!

And modelled too by Joel Mitchell…

Then there’s our Flatout Bear…

…Talking about this bear reminds me of a time when I worked for a couple of months as a telephonist for Celtic Sheepskin (before I became Press Officer). I happened to chat on the phone to a mummy who literally sang the praises of the Flatout Bear, when my own thoughts at the time were in fact of curiosity. I wondered why anyone would choose an almost two-dimensional teddy over the more common three-dimensional kind, but this mum soon put me right; “It soothes my baby” she described. “They can lie flat and snuggle up to the bear without me worrying about the toy rolling onto them”. “Ah, it all becomes clear” I exclaimed to myself! And then in April this year a writer at Mother and Baby magazine phoned asking about our bear and if she could comment on it in her article as “All the Celeb mummy’s have one”. Gosh, what a trend! So our bear became famous that April, for all to see…

Which brings me nicely onto the Infant Fleece –my gift of choice for my friends new baby girl, Sophie. You can also choose a similar fleece to line your pushchair with, but for newborns the Infant Fleece is perfect to line a baby’s moses basket or for the little bundle of joy to lie on as they are inspected by the Midwife and admired by various welcoming parties!

Sadly, I didn’t think to take a picture of beautiful Sophie on her new infant fleece (I think I was too busy cooing over her!), but I have had a couple of other pictures donated of children enjoying their special “rugs”. What great models they make!

So I’d like to finish this blog post with a big thank you to all parents who sent the above images in. If any more of you want to send in your pictures of your children enjoying our sheepskin products, feel free to email them to me personally at pressoffice@celtic-sheepskin.co.uk and I’ll post them onto our Facebook page.

Happy parenting!

Love, Charlotte Cole, Press Officer
