Celtic Sheepskin exceed expectation!

After being awarded ISO 14001 status last week, Celtic Sheepskin’s week got even better when they attracted some of London’s top journalists and stylists to preview their Autumn Winter 2010 collection. Attendees included Elle Magazine, You Magazine (Mail On Sunday), Glamour Magazine, Woman’s Weekly, Take A Break, Good Housekeeping plus many more!

It’s not often that a Cornish brand is able to stand out in the fashion world; very often it’s the case that unless you’ve got a presence in the capital you go unnoticed. Celtic Sheepskin are based in Newquay, Cornwall and prefer to use their bi-annual catalogue and website as their shop face, which fits with their lifestyle brand and “where the living is easy” moto. So the odds of a successful turnout to their press day were stacked against them.

Charlotte Cole, Press Officer at Celtic Sheepskin explained “we were absolutely thrilled to have such a great turnout at our press day. Everyone who came commented on how much they love our brand, which filled us with enormous pride. At Celtic Sheepskin we produce high quality garments in line with the season’s fashion, so touching the fabrics and personally seeing the work that has gone into each piece makes such a difference. I’m just so happy that the journalists made the effort to come over, and it’s a big thank you to everyone of them!”

Celtic Sheepskin is best known for their hand-made boots and slippers, which are made in their factory in Cornwall. Their clothing line has developed to keep their basic principles of producing only good quality items using natural fabrics in the best way possible for both the environment and running a successful business. The ISO 14001 status was awarded after a great effort from manager Karl Headleand and all the staff at Celtic Sheepskin, and directors Nick and Kath Whitworth are deeply proud of what their company achieves. The status has meant they reach standards set to ensure they minimise how their operations negatively affect the environment.

Karl Headleand, General Manager explained “we had all the policies in place for the standard, it was more a case of formalising them. The standard is a great symbol for customers to know how much they can expect from us as a company, and we will stick to our promises”.

For Celtic Sheepskin their carbon footprint is as important as the recyclable packaging their products are sent out in, to the natural fabrics the pieces are made from. Charlotte travelled with her colleague, Jos Cole to London by road, taking up product samples that are predominately made in the UK and Ireland.
At the press day they offered guests Cornish Sparkling Wine from Camel Valley and proudly included Cornish scones amongst the list of mouthwatering canapés. The press day was held on Wednesday 14th April at the Mandeville Hotel; a four-star boutique hotel in the heart of London.
